Description Bernie was institutionalized and then lobotomized in the 1950s, which was the protocol. Today he would have been given an anti psychotic medication, which might have controlled some of his symptoms. Bernie, was diagnosed with a mental disorder known as catatonia. He lived in his own world often smiling to himself.
Madeline Ellis, New York Member Since December 2007 Artist Statement I am married and I have one daughter, 30 and the cutest grand dog, Luke. I studied photography and interior design. I enjoy blending the two. Almost everything that I shoot ends up on my wall and enhances my space. I have had one women shows in Manhattan and my work has been in photography magazines as well. Recently, a photo of mine was purchased by Parkland Hospital in Dallas, Texas. When someone purchases one of my photos, I become a part of their life and in a small way have brightened up their space. It is a very gratifying feeling.
