Current Gallery: south_scottish_coast ( piece)
These photographs were taken at the Solway at the South of West Scotland, and the North of West England. It has been the site of important battles between inhabitants of the lands known today as Scotland and England. Running vaguely parallel to the Solway coast was the munitions factory, stretching from Gretna to Annan - the largest factory in the world in its day. It produced shells and materials for the war effort in the early 20th century. The Solway slips under the radar of many tourists to Scotland. It is wet, muddy, boggy, flat, and - as I see it anyway - quite bleak. There is a reason for its relative obscurity. However - there is always beauty in the bleak, and that is what I attempt to show in this gallery.
