"None can have a healty love for flowers unless he loves the wild ones." - Forbes Watson. The images in this gallery were part of our Wildflower Show at VanderVeer Botanical Center in Davenport, IA. Wildflowers still bloom in the woodlands of Iowa, Illinois and Wisconsin but the season for each flower is short and some years are better than others. These images represent several years of searching state parks, roadside ditches, woods, fields and rural cemeteries to find that "perfect" bloom to photograph. We encourage everyone to get out for a "walk on the wild side" but please take only photos and don't pick (or dig) the flowers. We want them to keep on blooming!
